Local Outreach: Reaching our Community

We reach to our community presenting the gospel of Jesus to them and inviting them to enjoy the wonderful life that can be found in Jesus Christ. Apart from evangelism, we are also active participants in the affairs of our community. We have a food distribution center and a clothing distribution center. We offer annual Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners to the elderly and the homeless and others of the community who are in need. We periodically host community board meetings and are active participants in the development of our community and the prevention of destructive forces that seeks to hinder the proper growth and development of our children.

Food Pantry
On December 12, 1984 a food pantry was established at Calvary in collaboration with the North Flatbush Coalition. This program offers weekly food distribution to community residents. A special day in every month is designated only to senior citizens. Over 150 community residents (senior citizens included) are provided for on a weekly basis.
Distribution Center
In addition Calvary is a site for the distribution of surplus food. Over 500 residents are served on these days.
Thanksgiving Dinner
In 1991 an annual Thanksgiving Day dinner was implemented for the homeless, elderly and all in need. Everyone in attendance receives a hot meal and a change of clothing if applicable. These services are provided and funded exclusively by Calvary Pentecostal Church. The overall objective of this program to assist in the physical, social and also spiritual needs of these individuals.
Clothing distribution
On going clothing distribution has been a part of our community involvement through the 80's and 90's.

Home Missions
Calvary actively participates in disaster relief in needy areas around the United States.
Foreign Missions
After moving to 151 Woodruff Avenue, Calvary has developed a growing Missionary Outreach. Teams of members and friends travel annually for Evangelism to several Countries. These include India, Africa, Britain, Poland, Canada, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Calvary provide financial aid to Orphanages in India and missionaries in South America, Africa and Asia. Through the vigorous efforts of the Women's Missionary Council and Young Women's Missionary Council groups the Church participates in annual clothing distribution to several of these countries. All of the programs and activities previously mentioned, have continued at our new location 58 Caton Place/45 East 8th Street on a much larger scale.
